Climate scientists have confirmed 2024 broke the world temperature record after global average temperatures exceeded 1.5 degrees Celsius (2.7 degrees Fahrenheit) above pre-industrial times. The primary driver behind the record temperature is the accumulation of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere, according to the European Commission’s Copernicus Climate Service.
