Amid Israel’s continued campaign against Hezbollah, the Speaker of Iran’s Parliament reaffirmed his nation’s support to Lebanon on Saturday.

“In these difficult conditions, the Islamic Republic of Iran shall stand with Lebanon’s nation and government and the resistance [Hezbollah] in all areas,” Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf said during a visit to Beirut.

Qalibaf’s comments come after 22 people were killed and more than 100 others were injured by airstrikes in central Beirut on Thursday.

The deadly strikes were a failed attempt to assassinate a senior Hezbollah leader. The attack follows a year of tit-for-tat exchanges between Israel and the militant group that has boiled over into all-out war in recent weeks.
