Trump ramps up transition talks and names chief of staff

In an exclusive telephone interview with NBC News’ Kristen Welker, President-elect Trump said his mandate from his sweeping election win is to "bring common sense back." When asked about the potential cost of his mass deportation plan, he said: "We have no choice … when people have killed and murdered … they’re not staying here … there is no price tag."

President-elect Donald Trump held transition talks aimed at filling key positions in his administration. His transition team announced the first major appointment, the White House chief of staff. NBC News’ Hallie Jackson reports.

In his first public comments since the election, President Biden said he would work toward a peaceful transfer of power to President-elect Trump. Biden said he would attend Trump’s inauguration. NBC News’ Gabe Gutierrez reports
