Cillian Murphy’s new film Small Things Like These is a historical drama set in 1985, telling the story of Ireland’s Magdalene laundries, rehabilitation centres for ‘fallen women.’ As in Oppenheimer, says CBC film critic Eli Glasner, Murphy’s performance portrays a man burdened by what he has seen and what to do about it.
