The head of economic crime and cybercrime for London’s Metropolitan police says the sentencing of a Chinese woman to nearly 12 years in jail over a scam that led police to seize Bitcoin worth more than £5 billion ($6.6 billion) is "a step towards justice" for the victims. Speaking outside Southwark Crown Court, Will Lyne says that more than 128,000 victims in China were targeted between 2014 and 2017 "and the emotional and financial impact on them was devastating."
