In an interview with comedian Stephen Colbert, former president Barack Obama warned that democracy "can’t overcome the politicization of the criminal justice system," adding "you can’t have a situation in which whoever’s in charge of the government starts using that to go after their political enemies."

His statement comes after the Justice Department issued a second indictment last month against former FBI Director and Trump political foe James Comey.
