Senate Democrats proposed a bill to end the government shutdown in exchange for a one-year extension of Affordable Care Act subsidies, but Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-SD) calls that proposal "a nonstarter." Senate Democrats Friday voted down a GOP bill to pay federal workers working without pay during the shutdown. The House of Representatives will not be meeting next week.
