From Transport Evolved.
American automakers – and to some extent automakers around the world – like to perpetuate the myth that consumers aren’t interested in buying smaller, more efficient vehicles, vehicles that are safer for other road users, use fewer resources, and make the world around us a little nicer.
But in the U.S. and Canada, a lot of the reasons behind automakers not making smaller vehicles comes from the fact that there aren’t very many regulations requiring them to do so.
That could change in the U.S. thanks to a new proposed rule change from NTHSA that would force automakers to make vehicles that are safer for pedestrians in the event of a crash.
Here’s the context and history behind why so many U.S. and Canadian vehicles are MASSIVE – and how you can get involved to make sure the U.S. proposed rule changing has an impact on the vehicles we get in the future.
