BC teen in critical condition with province’s 1st case of avian flu

From Global News.

British Columbians are being urged to keep themselves and their pets away from sick or dead birds, after the province’s top doctor announced a teenager is in hospital with Canada’s first presumptive human case of avian influenza.

The teen from the Fraser Health region remains in critical condition in B.C. Children’s Hospital, provincial health officer Dr. Bonnie Henry said Tuesday.

As Travis Prasad reports, while health officials are conducting an investigation and extensive contact tracing, the source of the H5 influenza infection remains unclear.
