Biden, Zelenskyy sign bilateral security agreement, hold press conference amid G7 summit | LIVE

From Global News.

U.S. President Joe Biden and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy will hold a joint press conference in Italy on Thursday, the same day they are expected to sign a long-term security agreement.

Leaders of the G7 countries have agreed to engineer a US$50-billion loan to help Ukraine in its fight for survival that would use interest earned on profits from Russia’s frozen central bank assets as collateral.

The U.S. proposal involves engineering a loan to help Ukraine in its fight against Russia. The loan would use interest earned on profits from Russia’s frozen central bank assets, most of which are held in the European Union, as collateral.

Additionally, U.S. officials said Tuesday that the United States will send Ukraine another Patriot missile system.

The officials said President Biden has approved the move. It would be the second Patriot system that the U.S. has given to Ukraine, although the Pentagon has routinely provided an undisclosed number of missiles for it. Other allies, including Germany, have also provided air defence systems and munitions for them.
