On tonight’s top story: Canada’s largest city was hit by a torrential downpour on Tuesday. The intense storm dumped so much rain on Toronto, it turned highways and streets into rivers, snarling traffic and knocking out power to multiple neighbourhoods – including the city’s downtown core.

Former U.S. president Donald Trump announced Ohio Sen. J.D. Vance as his running mate Monday, as the Republican National Convention (RNC) opened in Milwaukee. Vance was once a fierce critic of Trump but recent demonstrations of loyalty have scored him the ticket. Jackson Proskow has more on Trump’s pick for vice president.
