History buff uses metal detector to hunt for New Brunswick treasures

From Global News.

A New Brunswick man with history in his heart and a metal detector in his hand is unearthing tiny treasures that offer a glimpse into the life of early Canadian settlers.

Gaetan Donnelle has spent countless hours scanning the land, and he has discovered bits of history dating back to the 1700’s.

The New Brunswick Heritage Conservation Act says that all archeological objects found anywhere must be reported as soon as possible to provincial archeological authorities. But the reality is, more often than not, Donnelle digs up trash rather than treasure.

Global’s Shelley Steeves has the story.
