Questions are swirling about the future of Canada’s federal Liberal party and Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, after the party’s surprising by-election loss in their longtime stronghold riding of Toronto-St. Paul’s.

The Liberals had held that federal electoral district since 1993, when former prime minister Jean Chrétien first came into power.
