The UN condemns the staggering number of civilians killed in Israel’s war in Gaza, saying women and children comprised nearly 70 percent of the thousands of fatalities it had managed to verify. Speaking during a press briefing from Amman, Jordan, Ajith Sunghay, head of the UN Human Rights Office for the Occupied Palestinian Territory, says the findings indicate "a systematic violation of the fundamental principles of international humanitarian law."
