PBS News Weekly: Unprecedented attacks on Hezbollah spark concerns of a wider war | Sept. 20, 2024

From PBS NewsHour.

This week, we dive into growing concerns around a wider war in the Middle East, as thousands of pagers and walkie-talkies distributed to members of Hezbollah exploded, killing more than 20 and injuring more than 3,000 in Lebanon. Israel informed the U.S. it was behind both attacks.
Just days later, an Israeli airstrike on Beirut killed a senior Hezbollah leader — Ibrahim Akil– who was wanted by the U.S. for his involvement in the 1983 attacks on the U.S. embassy and Marine barracks in Beirut.
