Addiction therapists are sounding the alarm after online gambling gained popularity in Canada amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Ontario marked a milestone by launching the first regulated market for virtual casinos in 2022, with Alberta now set to follow suit.

While licensed gambling websites contributed a substantial $1.2 billion to government revenue in Ontario last year, the increasing cost to problem gamblers raises concerns.
