3D Wild West Puzzle – a conventional puzzle that lies flat on the table, but then there are more pieces which slot in vertically, with cacti and human figures adding to the scene! Tim saw this at a toy fair, but has never seen it in the shops, so maybe it was a prototype…

An early solar powered flapping flower.

An unusual leather purse where you have to loosen the stitching in order to open it.

Memory plastic remembers a shape, and these banners automatically fold up very neatly when you release them. But when you pull them out, you get a sun screen to protect you car from the worst of the heat, or they can also be used as banners at sporting events. Tim has a banner that says ‘GOAL’ on one side and on the other side you can show support for your team. In this case it is Watford Football Club. When playing at home, they wear yellow shirts and one of their nicknames if The Hornets, or The ‘Orns.

Finally, Contravision. Invented in 1982 by a keen squash player called Roland Hill, who wanted to make the game more accessible for spectators. Traditionally squash courts have solid walls that you cannot see thorough. Roland Hill’s one-way vision technology meant that the squash court could have glass walls, allowing spectators to look in, but the players would not be distracted by the spectators since the Contravision techology makes the walls look solid for the players. See https://www.contravision.com/our-invention/ This technology has since found many different applications.
