A group of Democratic U.S. senators is calling for accountability for Indian officials connected to an alleged murder plot of a Sikh activist on American soil. India has told U.S. officials that rogue operatives were behind the plot — but Sen. Jeff Merkley, who leads the group, told Power & Politics that’s a standard excuse to diminish the ‘culpability of the Indian government.’
