What’s So Special about May 7th?

From LivingPianos.

Tchaikovsky was born on May 7th, 1840. His B-flat minor piano concerto is perhaps the most famous piano concerto of all time. But he also wrote 2 other piano concertos!

His 4th, 5th and 7th symphonies are standard repertoire among symphony orchestras around the world. But his first three symphonies aren’t played nearly as much.

Brahms was born on May 7th, 1833. His output was smaller than some composers, like his contemporary, Dvorak, who composed 9 symphonies, Brahms only wrote 4 symphonies. But they are equally great works played by orchestras around the world on a regular basis. In fact, all of Brahms’ works are on an equally high level because he destroyed anything that wasn’t up to his high standard.

Incidentally, May 7th is also my birthday! Thanks for joining me.
