From DW News.
EU Member States are trying to define the bloc’s climate targets ahead of this month’s COP30 conference in Brazil. EU ministers in Brussels are seeking to commit to ambitious targets to take to the annual UN global climate summit, which they hope will encourage other nations to support.
Yet there’s been widespread disagreement among the EU’s 27 Member States. Some EU countries are opposed to the planned 2035 emissions reductions target for COP30 and are instead pushing for the adoption of more carbon capture and storage and outsourcing of emissions to other countries.
