Zelenskyy unveils “victory plan,” Russia suggests Ukraine “sober up”

From Global News.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy detailed his highly anticipated, yet divisive “victory plan” — more than two years into its war with Russia — to members of Ukraine’s Parliament on Wednesday.

“We must all change the circumstances so that Russia is forced to peace.” Zelenskyy said.

As Russia’s military advances in Ukraine’s eastern regions, Zelenskyy touched upon the five main points of his plan, including an unconditional invite to join NATO and specific weapons support. Though he has often called for a "fair" end to the ongoing war, Zelenskyy says this plan is necessary to force the Kremlin to negotiate in good faith.

The proposition also envisaged a Western role defending Ukraine’s natural mineral resources from Russian attacks, as well as post-war reconstruction pledges. Responding to this, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said that Kyiv needed to “sober up,” suggesting that he was camouflaging a war on Russia as “a peace plan.”
