The Importance Of Permanence

From JT Chapman.

We live in an era where we don’t own the things we pay for. Every fee we pay to Netflix or Audible or Spotify or Adobe gives us not the right to own something, but rather to rent it from a corporation that can revoke that right at any time. Beyond that, even our memories are impermanent – our photos are all digital, stored in the cloud somewhere and tied to the goodwill and security of multinational corporations. If this keeps up, what will we have to leave to our children? What physical legacy will keep our memory alive? Let’s talk about the importance of permanence.
