Tropical Cyclone Narelle made landfall in Western Australia on Friday, disrupting production at liquefied natural gas plants and cutting off power to thousands of residents.
Narelle was downgraded from a category four to a category three event as it made landfall in Exmouth, in northwest Australia, knocking out the power in the town and tearing the roof off the evacuation centre — forcing residents to relocate.
Narelle passed through Carnarvon as a Category 3 storm, bringing winds “in excess of 125 km/h," the Sydney Morning Herald reported.
The Bureau of Meteorology said on Friday that Narelle was churning near Denham in Western Australia but “weakening.”
