From Global News.
A man who was convicted in the death of a dog appealed in a B.C. courtroom Wednesday.
Randeep Ghataura was found guilty in October 2024 of killing, wounding, or injuring an animal – his ex-partner’s chihuahua, Tacori – and was sentenced to four months in jail in February 2025, with three years’ probation, and a 20-year ban on possessing animals of any kind.
Ghataura had admitted to hitting the small dog with a shoe when the owner wasn’t home.
The defence challenged the testimony of a veterinarian who said Tacori’s injuries were caused by Ghataura. The crown, however, argued that the evidence was clear, supporting the guilty verdict.
