In one of the most magical moments of Cirque du Soleil’s ECHO, dragonflies flutter around the big top just above the audience’s heads. As someone who has always wanted to fly a drone as part of a theater show (but was always denied), Adam Savage had MANY questions for assistant head of props Michael Schermann, who knew nothing about drones before becoming responsible for maintaining the temperamental and fragile fleet. Here’s how Michael and a rotating team of artists and technicians pull off such an emotional scene each night.
