Despite Iran rejecting the latest ceasefire proposal from the U.S. – demanding a permanent end to the war – President Donald Trump said Monday that Washington has an “active, willing participant on the other side” of talks.

This comes as Trump’s latest ultimatum looms – one he vows will result in attacks on Iranian power plants and bridges if no deal is made by Tuesday.

One day ahead of that deadline, Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei said Tehran has formulated its positions and demands in response to recent ceasefire proposals conveyed via Pakistan, noting negotiations should "in no way involve an ultimatum, a crime, or a threat to commit war crimes."

Baghaei called the U.S. 15-point ceasefire plan “excessively demanding and unreasonable and illogical."
