A growing number of Canadian airlines are implementing a new fuel surcharge this week on some flights as the aviation industry deals with skyrocketing costs of jet fuel.

Airfares have risen steadily over the last five weeks, but when it comes to destinations in parts of Europe and Asia, cancelled flights could soon become the norm.
