Live: Trump White House press briefing after Iran, US reach 2-week ceasefire

From USA TODAY.

White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt will hold a White House press briefing on April 8, 2026, less than 24 hours after Iran and the U.S. agreed to a two-week ceasefire. The agreement comes after an 11th deal was struck before deadline imposed by President Donald Trump, who threatened to wipe out a “whole civilization” if Iran did not capitulate to U.S. demands.

The proposal, brokered by Pakistan, led both sides to declare victory. Trump on Wednesday said the U.S. will “work closely with Iran” and said there are “many” points of agreement. Iran said the Strait of Hormuz will remain open as negotiations take place.
