Trump will hold Iran accountable for keeping Strait of Hormuz open, White House says

From Global News.

White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt briefed reporters on Wednesday after the U.S. and Iran reached a two-week ceasefire, saying Tehran has privately committed to keeping the Strait of Hormuz open to traffic, "which the president will hold them accountable for."

Leavitt said that the Iranians originally put forward a ten-point plan that was "literally thrown in the garbage by President Trump," and, with the deadline approaching, they put forward a "more reasonable and entirely different and condensed plan to the president."

When questioned about Trump’s threat to eliminate Iranian civilization and his mockery of Islam in a recent social media post where he signed off with "Praise be to Allah," she responded saying "his very tough rhetoric and his tough negotiating style is what has led to the result that you are all witnessing today."

She also mentioned that Lebanon is not part of the ceasefire, and that has been relayed to all parties involved in the ceasefire.
