Longtime Conservative MP Marilyn Gladu is the latest opposition MP to switch over to the government caucus, leaving Prime Minister Mark Carney just one seat away from a functional majority.

The move from Gladu, the MP for the Ontario riding of Sarnia-Lambton-Bkejwanong, comes days before three byelections are scheduled that could reset the balance of power in Parliament.

In remarks alongside Carney on Wednesday, Gladu said she heard from constituents that they wanted “serious leadership and a real plan” for the economy.
