Former US Vice President Kamala Harris says she is thinking about making a second run for president in 2028. She was asked on stage at a civil rights conference in New York. Harris has stayed behind the scenes of politics since her loss in the 2024 presidential election to Donald Trump. If she runs, Harris may face a challenge from fellow Democrat Gavin Newsom, now governor of California, who has said he will make a decision about running after the 2026 House of Representatives election.
