The Curious Case of Kanye West

From Vox.

Ye, the artist formerly known as Kanye West, was once one of the biggest artists of his generation. Then he broke bad by touting anti-Black rhetoric like “slavery was a choice” and wearing “White Lives Matter” T-shirts. It got worse when he turned to antisemitism and began selling swastika T-shirts, eventually releasing a song called "Heil Hitler."

Now, just before the release of his new, chart-topping album, he says he’s sorry. Ye or nay?

Today, Explained co-host Sean Rameswaram talks with former Kanye West fan and Vanity Fair culture writer Chris Murphy about Ye’s missteps, his attempt at redemption, and whether he’s done enough to be loved by his former audience.
