From AFP News Agency.
American Youtuber Johnny Somali has been sentenced to six months in prison.
South Korean authorities indicted Somali in 2024 on public order violations and obstruction of business, and banned him from leaving the country.
In October 2024, Somali caused outrage after uploading a video of himself kissing and twerking beside a statue memorialising Korean women forced into sexual slavery by Japanese occupying forces before and during World War II, called "comfort women" in Japan. The court said his case had not included any charges related to this stunt.
Somali, 25, whose real name is Ramsey Khalid Ismael, is known for filming provocative content in South Korea and Japan, and streaming them on platforms such as YouTube and Twitch.
