The “Bank Robber’s” Hot Rod: Why This 1930 Packard is a 1 of 1 Legend | Jay Leno’s Garage

From Jay Leno’s Garage.

Jay Leno welcomes automotive royalty from the famed @TheNethercuttCollection, the 1930 Packard 734 Speedster Victoria Coupe.

In an era where the average car struggled to reach 50 horsepower, this factory-built beast was pushing 145 HP from a buttery-smooth 385 cubic inch straight-eight engine. This isn’t just a luxury car; it was Packard’s "Mustang" for the high-society cad. Priced at a staggering $6,000 in 1930, the equivalent of several luxury homes at the time.

It featured a shorter wheelbase for nimbleness and a performance tuned engine that could easily exceed 100 mph. Jay and curator Cameron Richards dive into the "Zen state" of driving a Packard and why this specific car won a special trophy at Pebble Beach after sitting for 30 years.
