As the U.S. and Israel’s war on Iran drags on, U.S. President Donald Trump is trying to put more pressure on Tehran to open the Strait of Hormuz. Oil prices have steadily climbed since the war began, primarily due to Iran’s effective closure of the strait.

Trump told the financial times he’s tempted to seize Iran’s main oil export hub, Kharg Island.

"It could be taken, but this would also be a major combat operation and there would be casualties," retired Col. Mark Cancian said.
