Global National April 10, 2026 | Artemis II crew returns to Earth after historic lunar mission

From Global News.

Friday marked the 10th and final day of NASA’s historic Artemis II mission. The four-astronaut crew landed off the coast of San Diego, Calif., just after 8 p.m. ET. The Orion spacecraft left Earth and headed for the moon — nearly 250,000 miles away — on April 1, 2026. The mission saw humans examine the moon up close for the first time since the Apollo flights of the 1960s and ’70s. Mike Armstrong has our top story tonight.

It’s expected to be a high-stakes weekend in the Middle East. U.S. Vice President JD Vance and a team of negotiators are now on their way to Pakistan for talks with Iran on ending the war. Tehran is making its demands, including for Israel to stop bombing Lebanon, while President Donald Trump issued more threats about what will happen if the peace talks in question fail. Vincent McAviney reports.

And as the war grinds on, Americans are now facing the largest monthly increase in gas prices in six decades. And new figures show overall inflation is climbing too. Those rising costs are causing growing fractures in Trump’s base of support. As Jackson Proskow reports, even some prominent MAGA members are losing patience.

Meanwhile, in Canada, fuel prices fell nationwide on Friday, with some provinces seeing a drop of more than 10 cents per litre. That much-needed relief comes as markets responded to news of the fragile ceasefire in Iran. But as Heidi Petracek explains, these lower gas prices may not last long.
