Hegseth says Iran “begged” for ceasefire after what he calls a decisive US victory

From Global News.

U.S. Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth said on Wednesday that the Strait of Hormuz is open and the U.S. military would be "hanging around" in the Middle East to ensure Iran complies with the ceasefire.

"We’re not going anywhere. We’re going to make sure Iran complies with the ceasefire, and that ultimately comes to the table and makes a deal," he said. "President Trump forged this moment. Iran begged for this ceasefire, and we all know it."

Meanwhile, Iran’s ambassador to the United Nations in Geneva said that Iran will approach peace talks with the U.S. with greater caution than in the past due to a deep lack of trust.
