We often talk about the skilled trade gap and how fewer young people are being exposed to the trades. The BOCES Career and Technical Training program in New York has been addressing this issue for decades. The school serves 23 local high schools, including one where the Saratoga homeowner, Evan teaches. Evan asked one of his students, Francesco Delgallo, to build some hockey goals for the backyard rink. Kevin O’Connor meets up with Francesco at BOCES to learn more about the program and his decision to explore the trades. Then, Francesco teaches Kevin how to weld. Then they present the new goal to Evan at our project house.
