Israel strikes more targets in Lebanon as US‑Iran ceasefire holds | DW News

From DW News.

Israel continues to strike Hezbollah targets in Lebanon, putting the US‑Iran ceasefire under renewed pressure, after its heaviest attacks so far in the conflict killed more than 250 people. Israel says the ceasefire does not apply to Lebanon, while Iran insists its northern neighbor is an inseparable part of the deal. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has ordered his cabinet to open talks with Lebanon, with discussions expected to focus on disarming the Iran‑backed militant group Hezbollah.

Aaron David Miller of the Carnegie Foundation for International Peace spoke to DW about the feasibility of Israel’s goals in Lebanon and his assessment of Donald Trump’s current US foreign policy.
