Iran on Monday threatened to deploy "naval mines" in the Gulf if the United States and Israel were to attack any of its coasts or islands. Iran used this strategy on a large scale during its war with Iraq in the 1980s. Tehran may have 5,000 to 6,000 naval mines in stock.
