“We don’t need it”: Trump calls on other nations to open Strait of Hormuz amid Iran war

From Global News.

U.S. President Donald Trump addressed the nation on Wednesday evening from the Cross Hall at the White House about the ongoing war with Iran.

The President addressed rising gas prices, and said that the U.S. produced more oil and gas than Saudi Arabia and Russia, and hence imported "almost no oil through the Hormuz Strait," and added, " won’t be taking any in the future," because we don’t need it.

He  told other countries that obtain oil through the Strait of Hormuz to "go to the Strait and just take it, protect it, use it for yourselves."

The closure of the strategically-vital strait has caused oil prices to skyrocket, and resulted in cascading energy crises in a number of different countries and regions.
