From Global News.
In a sweet moment on Parliament Hill on Wednesday, a Cree rite of passage, called a ‘Walking Out’ ceremony, was held, celebrating a child’s first time setting foot on the land. As Elder Sarah Ottereyes performed a welcome song, six-month-old Annora Crowe emerged from a teepee to meet spring. She took her first steps—with the help of her parents. With a toy axe in hand, little Annora saw her first tree before heading back inside the teepee for a celebratory feast.
