American singer-songwriter D4vd — born David Anthony Burke — is facing multiple charges in connection to the death of missing 14-year-old Celeste Rivas.
Speaking at a press conference Tuesday, Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan Hochman confirmed Burke was charged with first-degree murder, lewd and lascivious acts with an individual under 14, and mutilating the remains of a body.
The murder charges included special circumstances — lying in wait, committing crime for financial gain and murdering the witness in an investigation — that could carry a maximum life sentence in prison, or even the death penalty.
“The determination on whether or not the District Attorney’s Office will seek the death penalty will be made at a later time,” Hochman told reporters.
Rivas was last heard from on April 23, 2025, after she went to Burke’s home in the Hollywood Hills. Her decomposing and mutilated body was found on Sept. 8 — a day after she would have turned 15 — in the trunk of Burke’s impounded Tesla. Rivas was a 13-year-old seventh grader when her family first reported her missing in 2024.
