From Global News.
Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney is backing the provinces refusing to sell American alcohol amid simmering trade tensions with U.S. President Donald Trump’s administration. White House officials have said it’s a major sticking point ahead of Canada-United States-Mexico Agreement (CUSMA) negotiations.
"Look, you know what’s an irritant? 50 per cent tariff on steel, 50 per cent tariff on aluminum, 25 per cent tariff on automobiles, all the tariffs on forest products. Those are more than irritants, those are violations of our trade deal," Carney said Thursday.
David Akin explains how the booze ban is irritating the U.S., how Ontario Premier Doug Ford is standing his ground, and what Carney is saying about the situation.
