After a young wolf escaped from a zoo in the South Korean city of Daejeon, hundreds of officers were deployed to scour the area using drones and thermal cameras. A few hours later, an image purporting to show the runaway trotting through a nearby intersection spread widely online. It was redistributed by government agencies as well as local and international media – including AFP, before being withdrawn. An AFP visual analysis found the image was created using artificial intelligence tools, which an independent expert and local authorities also confirmed.
