April is autism awareness month and is a time to improve understanding and promote inclusion of individuals with autism.
Jacqui Wells — whose son is turning six this summer — was diagnosed with autism around four years ago.
“I’ll admit I was heartbroken at the beginning. You kind of have to put all those visuals of what you think your future is going to look like —
I’m going to get them into this sport or that sport — and kind of toss that out the window and start a whole new mindset.
As Caryn Lieberman reports, while autism is a lifelong condition, for families of those living with it, it can be a lifelong journey.
