From Global News.
British Columbia has announced it is building a new secondary school in Tumbler Ridge after a fatal mass shooting in February.
Premier David Eby made the announcement Thursday, saying students cannot return to the school where six people were killed.
The Peace River South School Board consulted with victims’ families, teachers, experts, and community members in making the ultimate decision of a new school on a different site. The institute will be funded by the provincial and federal government.
Since the deadly shooting, students have been taught in portables, but will move into modular classrooms in the coming weeks until the new school is built. Demolition of the original site begins this summer.
