Victory Day parade: Putin reflects on WWII, “total and ruthless evil” of Nazi Germany

From Global News.

Russia celebrated its annual Victory Day Saturday with a scaled-down parade in Red Square under tight security following drone attacks from Ukraine.

Safety concerns remained in spite of three-day weekend ceasefire between the warring nations that U.S. President Donald Trump announced Friday in a Truth Social post.

In a speech, Russian President Vladimir Putin reflected on the Soviet Union’s contributions as an Allied power during the Second World War and the “total and ruthless evil” of Adolf Hitler’s Nazi Germany.

Putin commended the soldiers fighting tailing in Ukraine, hailing the efforts of Russian “heroes” in what he called “resisting an aggressive force that is armed and supported by the entire NATO bloc.”

“I am firmly convinced that our cause is just, we are together, and victory has always been and will always be ours,” Putin said.
