Lawsuit Aims to Hold OpenAI Liable for 2025 Shooting at FSU

The family of Tiru Chabba, a father of two killed in the 2025 shooting at Florida State University, is now accusing OpenAI’s ChatGPT of helping the suspect plan out his attack. The complaint details several of the suspect’s alleged exchanges with an AI-powered chatbot including instructions for how to use the weapons he’d obtained. NBC’s Laura Jarrett reports for TODAY.
