President Donald Trump is headed to China this week for a meeting with President Xi Jinping.
In November, Trump announced he had accepted an invitation to visit China in April, but that was delayed as the war in Iran took priority in U.S. foreign policy.
This will be the first visit to China from a sitting U.S. president since Trump visited in 2017, Reuters reported. In Trump’s first year back in office, China and the U.S. went tit for tat in a tariff trade war. The war in Iran is expected to be up for discussion on the visit, as China gets about 60% of its oil through the Strait of Hormuz.
